Religion's Possibilities:
Power for Unity & Transformation
Religion has caused much hurt and harm in its abuses, but in its good it's done much to Spirit and the truths of Prophetic faith. It is clear in history, as well, that its been a great unifier of humanity throughout time, for family, tribe and nation-state.
The problem is that organized religion has been kept within an exclusive group and used to set one group against another.
To unify humanity, the faiths must recognize their oneness, that they are all as
"chapters in the same beautiful book of Spirit."
When that oneness is more fully recognized, it can be put to use in the building of peace and a better world.
Power for Unity is increased by:
- Common values, interests, social group, etc.
the power of that unity is enhanced...*²
For example,Alignment with 'Spirit'-- that "Something Greater" increases the Power of anything...
-- Specific, clear organization empowers unity & focus...
All of the above prerequisites for unity are found in religion.
If the faiths have truly been the seminal force progressively unifying the family, tribe, state and nation throughout history. what can we do about it? It may be well and good to recognize religion's possibilities, but
what's that got to do with you and me? Perhaps by understanding, we may see a value to be reclaimed and used, perhaps to be renewed and utilized in other venues.
The next great unity to be achieved is that of the entire planet.
There is quite a work ahead and we surely need every tool and every earthly possibility.
